Alexander Burrows, DVM

Alexander grew up on a dairy farm outside Truro. His favourite place to be was on the farm working and interacting with cows. Here, he developed a deep respect for animals, farming and agriculture and upon graduating high school Alexander attended the Nova Scotia Agricultural College and the Atlantic Veterinary College. He graduated from the Atlantic Veterinary College in 2014 with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.

After graduating, Alexander took a position as a large animal veterinarian in Ontario where he practiced for a year before returning to his home province of Nova Scotia. After returning, Alexander became a partner in his family dairy farm while also practicing as a large animal veterinarian in the area. In 2023, he co-founded High Tides Veterinary Services. 

Alexander is also kept busy with his young family. He lives with his wife, three kids, dog and cat.

Andrew Greene, DVM

Andrew grew up in Durham, NS. He was extensively involved in his local 4-H club where he discovered his passion for agriculture and food animals. He took many livestock projects, but his favourites were dairy, beef, poultry, and waterfowl. He even competed for Team Nova Scotia at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair for both beef and dairy. Andrew graduated from the Dalhousie University Faculty of Agriculture in 2017 with a Major in Animal Science and then graduated from the Atlantic Veterinary College in 2021 with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.

 

Following graduation, Andrew returned to Nova Scotia and worked as a mixed and large animal veterinarian. In 2023, he co-founded High Tides Veterinary Services. 

In his free time Andrew can be found spending time with his fiancé, his two Basset Hounds, or in the barn with his flock of exhibition ducks and chickens.

Jill Ann Barron - Veterinary Assistant

Jill Ann is a 4th generation dairy farmer continuing to farm with her parents and fiancé in Gore, NS. Jill Ann and her fiancé also have a small beef herd they raise and show. She was involved with 4-H for many years showing a variety of livestock projects including dairy, beef, light horse and dog obedience. Jill Ann graduated from Dalhousie Faculty of Agriculture in 2018 with a Major in Animal Science and a Minor in Agriculture Business.

 

Upon completing university, Jill Ann worked as a veterinary assistant at a mixed animal clinic before focusing more time on the family farm business. She joined the High Tides team in 2024 and is happy to be involved in the veterinary industry again with the focus on farm animals.

 

In the spare time Jill Ann may have, she enjoys spending time with her dog, family, and you guessed it… cows!
